Articles and materials intended to come into contact with foodstuffs


Service offer:

  • Complete analysis (7) including sensory analysis of all types of materials (plastics, ceramics, paper, rubber, metals, metallic and non-metallic surface finish, cork and cellophane), which come into direct or indirect contact with food, according to legislative requirements. Results of analyses can be fully used as documentation for Declaration of compliance according to Article 16 of Regulation No 1935/2004.
  • Expert opinions based on analyses results interpretation or expert opinions based on documentation according to Article 16 of Regulation No 1935/2004.
  • Certificate of compliance of product with legislation in Czech or English. Photographs of assessed products are a part of certificate.
  • Specialized analyses of material coming to direct or indirect contact with food, which can be used for health risk assessment.
  • Consultation in area of materials and products intended to come into contact with food.

European legislation

Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, in latter wording

This regulation determines basic requirements for all types of materials:

- materials must be safe,

- materials must not transfer their constituents to food in quantities which could endanger human health, bring about an unacceptable change in the composition of the food or bring about a deterioration in the organoleptic characteristics thereof.

Named legislation defines requirements for direct and indirect contact with food for these materials: ceramics, glass, rubber, ion exchange resins, metals and alloys, paper and cardboard, printing inks, regenerate cellulose, silicones, cork, textile, varnishes, waxes and wood.
